Making a Weekend of It: San Antonio Pride

San Antonio turns Pride Month into a citywide celebration, offering travelers an immersive mix of parades, performances and riverfront festivities that make it one of the most vibrant LGBTQ+ experiences in Texas.

At the center of the action is the Pride Bigger Than Texas Festival & Night Parade, a signature event that transforms the city into a glowing celebration of community and culture.

Taking place June 27 at Crockett Park, the festival features live entertainment, food vendors, community activations and a Pride wedding ceremony. As night falls, the energy shifts downtown for the highly anticipated Night Parade, which begins at 9 p.m. and lights up the streets with floats, music and celebration.

Pride Festivities & Community Celebrations

One of the most talked-about traditions is the annual Pride SA Krystal Kelly Running of the Queens “High Heel Race,” a playful and high-energy event held just before the parade that draws crowds eager for a dose of fun and friendly competition.

Throughout Pride Month, Pride Week San Antonio extends the celebration with a full calendar of events across the city, including drag brunches, DJ nights, pool parties, bar crawls and neighborhood gatherings that keep the energy going day and night.

Beyond Pride, San Antonio offers an easy, walkable destination experience. Its downtown core and River Walk put travelers steps away from restaurants, attractions and hotels, making it simple to explore without needing a car. The city’s blend of culture, cuisine and historic charm adds depth to any visit, whether travelers come specifically for Pride or as part of a broader summer getaway.
