This 8-day safari FAM—June 8-15, 2023 or Nov. 8-15, 2023—features both traditional safari lodges and a luxury tented camp experience. Participants will explore the Afro-Alpine scenery of Aberdare National Park, the starkly arid beauty of the northern Samburu district, the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park, most famous for having the largest population of majestic rhinos, including the endangered black rhinos, in all of Kenya.
The itinerary begins in Nairobi with a stay at the Sarova Stanley Hotel, the first luxury hotel established in Nairobi in 1902. Then it’s off to explore the rest of the country, with a drive to Aberdare National Park, where elephants roam through lichen-hung forests and spectacular waterfalls plunge into churning pools. Overnight is at The Ark, a secluded timbered lodge designed to resemble Noah’s Ark and known for the game-watching experience around its private waterhole, which attracts large herds of elephants. Then it’s onward and upward to Shaba National Reserve, famous for its lions and elephants. Home sweet home here is at the Sarova Shaba Game Lodge, set along the bank of the Ewaso Nyiro River. There’s also sightseeing at Lake Nakuru, home to a shifting population of over 400 species of birds including thousands of pink flamingoes. While in the area, you’ll call the Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge home. Of course, no visit to Kenya is complete without a visit to Masai Mara, where you’ll be staying at the Sarova Mara Game Camp for a bit of glamping.
