Ensemble Travel Group has signed its first-ever membership deal with ASTA.

“This is a major landmark for ASTA and Ensemble. Our first membership deal signifies the confidence that Ensemble has placed in our industry association,” said ASTA president & CEO Zane Kerby in press materials. “And this vote of confidence will allow us to redouble our efforts to promote and defend the travel advisor community at all levels of government, within the travel industry and before the traveling public.”

The new membership deal with Ensemble Travel Group makes membership mandatory for all Ensemble U.S. shareholder members. In total, 242 new members will join ASTA, including five new premium members. This new partnership also qualifies Ensemble for the 2019/2020 consortia seat on the ASTA Board of Directors. Consortia with 75 percent plus membership in ASTA are eligible for the seat on a 2-year rotating basis. Ensemble will assume that seat during the ASTA Global Convention and will again be giving away the prestigious Susan B. Tanzman award in addition to making a substantial $10,000 ASTAPAC donation in the winner’s name.

“We are proud of our alignment with ASTA,” said David Harris, CEO of Ensemble Travel Group in press materials. “The advocacy role they play on behalf of travel advisors in all areas of business from legislative, educational and member resources will benefit Ensemble members in many ways and will be vital to our continued success.”

ASTA kicked off the New Year with a renewed focus on what it means to be a travel advisor. In August of 2018, the association announced its rebrand to the American Society of Travel Advisors. This name change, the Society’s first in almost 75 years, embodies the revitalization of the agency sector that has been taking place for several years and sends a critical message to the traveling public and the broader travel industry. The growing list of consortia investments in ASTA contributed to membership growth by 7 percent in 2019.

“Promoting and defending the travel advisor community is our ongoing commitment. We celebrate partnerships at ASTA because we know that to advance our mission, we need the support of our industry behind us,” added Kerby.
