Atlanta, break out your kilts and plaids: it’s Edinburgh for the summer via Delta Airlines starting in May 2023.

New Opportunities to Experience Edinburgh

The service will operate five times a week from May 25 to Sept. 4, 2023. Delta has also confirmed it will expand its seasonal Edinburgh to Boston route to a daily service, operating from May 8 to Oct. 28. This is an increase in the current five times-a-week service. Delta will also grow the frequency of its New York JFK service. Edinburgh Airport is the only Scottish airport with scheduled routes to the U.S.

“This is a route we have worked towards for a number of years and it is incredibly pleasing to see that hard work come to fruition with this announcement,” said Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport, in a press statement. “It’s fantastic to see another direct route from the capital to the US and this also opens up Scotland to Atlanta and the hub network it operates, expanding the internal and external reach that our country has and deserves. Delta’s decision to expand its overall offering from Edinburgh Airport shows great confidence in the Edinburgh market and its ability to provide for airline and passenger. We’re proud to see partners work with us to offer greater choice to Scotland.”

Nicolas Ferri, Delta’s v.p. Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, added in a press statement: “This summer saw extremely high demand for travel to the U.S.. Edinburgh is an important market for Delta and connecting the capital with Atlanta, our leading U.S. hub will offer business and leisure travellers many important new travel options and convenient connections to destinations throughout the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.”

And the timing is perfect for the epicures on your list. The new flights coincide with the opening of the Port of Leith Distillery, Scotland’s first vertical distillery—think double-height whiskey bar—that serves up a swig with views of Fife, the Forth Bridges and other iconic Edinburgh landmarks. If you’re looking for a happening place for your clients to stay, book them in the new 100 Princes Street, set to open at the end of the current year.
