Avalon Waterways will introduce a new Suite Ship in 2019, the Avalon Envision. This marks the company’s 13th Suite Ship in Europe and 16th Suite Ship worldwide.
Once the Envision debuts, Avalon’s entire fleet will be made up of Suite Ships, with accommodations that feature beds facing the windows.
Avalon Waterways’ Panorama Suites and Open-Air Balconies feature wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows that open wide (7-ft. wide in Europe; 11-ft. wide in SE Asia) to invite the outside in, without compromising room space. Avalon’s Panorama Suites have the beds facing the views and also feature large marble bathrooms.
Avalon Envision will debut in spring 2019 and sail on the Danube River on several itineraries including the 10-day Danube Dreams, 10-day Legendary Danube and 12-day Blue Danube Discovery.
In other news: In 2019, Avalon Waterways is increasing opportunities for travelers to enjoy its collection of Active Discovery river cruises, including a new itinerary on the Rhone River and a new AvalonGo App.
The Active Discovery Tours engage guests in two ways: Think “active” with a jogging tour through Amsterdam, a biking tour around Vienna or even a canoe trip on the Danube; or “discovery” with hands-on experiences such as taking part in a painting class in Amsterdam, tasting locally produced cheese and beer at an ancient abbey, or saying “good morning” to Vienna on an early-riser walk to a quaint cafe.
The 8-day Active Discovery on the Rhône itinerary offers travelers an array of included Active and Discovery excursions, such as a hike or bike ride through the Camargue Regional National Park or a visit to a local oyster farm while at port in Port-Saint-Louis; a canoe ride through the Gorges de l’Ardéche while at port in Viviers; and a culinary walk in Lyon, to name just a few options.
