Virtuoso’s clients could soon be traveling on one of Virgin Galactic’s space flights. A new partnership between the two companies gives Virtuoso travel advisors exclusive access to a limited number of reservations within Virgin Galactic’s first 1,000 seats. In May, the aerospace company said it expected to launch its commercial flight service in the first quarter of 2023.
“Travel transforms us and pushes us out of our comfort zone, said Virtuoso’s chairman and CEO Matthew D. Upchurch, in a press release. “For our advisors who have clients seeking pioneering, transformational travel, a Virgin Galactic spaceflight is the ultimate experience.”
As well as the actual flight, Future Astronauts will have access to the membership community, which comes with perks such as exclusive events, “money-can’t buy” experiences, trips and various space-preparedness activities, including a multi-day, all inclusive astronaut training and hospitality program for the passenger and three guests at Virgin Galactic’s planned campus. As a member of the Future Astronauts community, Upchurch said he could “speak firsthand to the curated, high-touch and one-of-a-kind journey Virgin Galactic offers, as well as the community it cultivates.”
The journey itself is a 90-minute flight with a signature air launch and Mach-3 boost to the edge of the Earth’s atmosphere, where astronauts will experience weightlessness and take in stunning views of the Earth. The price tag for this experience is $450,000—this includes a $150,000 deposit to secure one’s seat.
Virgin Galactic president & chief business officer, commercial and consumer operations Blair Rich said Virtuoso’s position as a leader in the luxury experiential travel market makes them “the ideal strategic partner to expand our reach in this valuable sector.”
