Luxury safari operator African Travel, Inc. (ATI) is heading into PRIDE month by supporting Rainbow Railroad, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to the safety of at-risk LGBTQI+ individuals. ATI will contribute $50.00 from each booking made in June to Rainbow Railroad’s efforts, which include crisis response, financial assistance and emergency relocation for those escaping persecution due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.

This is nothing new: Rainbow Railroad has been a significant partner of ATI’s TreadRight Foundation for several years, providing vital assistance to over 13,000 individuals from more than 65 countries since its inception in 2006. This collaboration underscores ATI’s dedication to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and equity, principles shared by both Rainbow Railroad and the TreadRight Foundation.

“This year’s Pride Month’s theme is ‘reflect, empower and unite’. As a member of the LGBTQ+ African community and a proud South African, I understand the struggles of identity in a continent that must strive to be more inclusive. It’s crucial to provide pathways to liberation and hope for a more equitable future for those who feel marginalized,” said Banda in a press statement. “Travel can facilitate this by supporting local communities in Africa. We are fully committed to our TreadRight partner, Rainbow Railroad, which provides essential support for LGBTQI+ refugees in South Africa which is a country willing to grant refugee status based on gender identity and sexual orientation.”

ATI has also tailored its safari offerings to cater to the LGBTQ+ community, launching personalized journeys in 2021 that provide a unique blend of wildlife encounters and cultural experiences. These safaris are designed with inclusivity in mind, ensuring that all your clients, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, feel welcomed and respected. ATI’s dedicated safari team, which includes LGBTQ+ members, carefully selects lodges and camps that prioritize inclusion and sensitivity.

In addition to supporting Rainbow Railroad, ATI’s commitment to the LGBTQ+ community is further demonstrated through its Pride Guide for travel advisors. This resource offers essential travel tips, ensuring that every safari journey is not only unforgettable but also aligns with ATI’s MAKE TRAVEL MATTER Experiences, enhancing the positive impact of travel on the world.
