The 217-room Arlo Wynwood  located in Miami’s arty Wynwood neighborhood, has announced its latest artist exhibition, set to open in the hotel’s Living Room Gallery.

The 3-month installation, titled “Thick As Thieves,” will be on displaystarting May 17, and will highlight the work of Miami-based American contemporary artist Dan Alva, whose incredibly intricate pieces reflect modern reinterpretations of classic paintings.

Raised in a family of skilled Spanish artists, Alva honed his craft from a young age, working alongside his father in the family garage, attributing much of his artistic talent to him. His complex and captivating artworks blend bold figurative elements with bursts of camouflage, stripes and various patterns.

“The series is named after mafia terms and alludes to them,” said Alva in a press release statement. “The artworks feel like they have a bootleg or stolen quality, which I try to embrace. The modern reinterpretations of classic masterpieces are created using original techniques and materials.”

Arlo Wynwood will celebrate the exhibition opening with a special event on Friday, May 17, from 6-9 PMEST. The evening will feature a meet-and-greet with the artist and a live DJ set. “Thick as Thieves” is the third exhibition in Arlo Wynwood’s Living Room Gallery series, which debuted in November right before Miami Art Week. The series, created by Arlo Hotels art curator Jasmine Arakel, was designed to bring fine art pieces typically reserved for museums, galleries and private collections into publicly accessible spaces at Arlo Hotels.
