Wind Surf, Windstar Cruises’ flagship and one of the world’s largest sailing ships, is set for a significant transformation. This November, the classic five-masted sailing yacht will undergo Phase 1 of extensive renovations in Cadiz, Spain, emerging with a fresh look just in time for its Classic Caribbean holiday cruise departing Dec. 21, 2024.

“Wind Surf has become a beloved choice among our longtime Windstar guests,” said Chief Operating Officer Stijn Creupelandt in a press statement. “Many of our guests return each year to sail on this yacht, and we’re thrilled to offer a refreshed atmosphere and updated technology on board to enhance their comfort. I can’t wait to personally welcome our guests during the holiday sailing and celebrate this exciting transformation in a festive setting.”

Windstar: Enhancing the Client Experience

WindstarThis multi-million dollar project will enhance your client’s experience through a comprehensive redesign of public spaces and improvements to the Premium Suite. The renovations will introduce new layouts, furniture, wall and floor coverings, lighting and custom art throughout the ship. Additionally, all guest staterooms will be equipped with new interactive TVs, improving onboard technology.

The Wind Surf’s renovation encompasses several key areas. The lobby will be redesigned for improved service and comfort, while the boutique will expand to offer a luxury shopping experience. The Compass Rose Bar/Lounge will feature modern decor with a new multi-purpose stage, and the Amphora Restaurant will be refreshed with sea-inspired elements and improved seating. The pool deck and bar will be optimized for ocean views and socializing. New themed Premium Suites will be introduced, inspired by luxury resorts, and the exclusive Owner’s Suite behind the Bridge will receive an elevated nautical makeover.

Of note is that Wind Surf will be ready for its New Year’s Beach Fun & Sun cruise departing on Dec. 28, 2024. Additionally, bookings are still available for the ship’s Grand Caribbean Adventure, a 55-day cruise from Jan. 4 – Feb. 28, 2025, visiting 28 Caribbean islands and 39 ports.

Phase 2 of the renovation project, scheduled for completion in December 2026, will focus on updating staterooms with new furniture, soft goods and decor. Additional areas for renovation in this phase include Stella Bistro, Veranda and the fitness studio.

This renovation is part of a broader initiative across Windstar’s Wind Class fleet. Wind Star has already completed Phase 1 improvements, with Phase 2 planned for April 2026. Wind Spirit will undergo Phase 1 renovations in April 2026 and Phase 2 in March 2027.
