First Look at Ocean Suites on Explora I

Explora Journeys has unveiled its luxurious Ocean Terrace Suites on Explora I, which is due to set sail on its maiden voyage around the Mediterranean in May 2023.

The concept behind the design of the vessel’s 461 suites, penthouses and residences was the desire to create “Homes at Sea” that allow guests to connect with their surroundings and achieve an “Ocean State of Mind.” The company worked with leading architects and designers, including De Jorio Luxury & Yachts and the interior design studio NenMar, to create spacious “Homes at Sea” that focus on simplicity and comfort. Suites range in size from 377 sq. ft Ocean Terraces to the 3,014 sq. ft. Owner’s Residence

All feature private terraces with daybeds and dining tables, floor-to-ceiling windows, neutral color palettes, furniture by leading 20th-century designer Gio Ponti from the fine Italian furniture manufacturer Moltenti&C, walk-in wardrobes with seated vanity areas and Dyson Supersonic hair dryers, heated floors in the bathrooms, personal binoculars, wireless bed-side charging, personal mini-bar, espresso machines, kettles, teapots, complimentary personal refillable water bottles for each guest and 24 hour guest services.

Bookings are open for the Inaugural Journeys Collection for Explora I. Explora Journeys offers a rolling commission structure for travel advisors in which commissions on client deposits and full pre-payments are paid seven days after payments are received.

In its debut season, Explora I will sail to 132 ports—including ones in Kastellorizo, Greece and Saint Pierre, Martinique that are rarely visited by cruise ships—in 40 different countries. Sailings range from six-night journeys to a 44-night Northern Europe Grand Journey. Its first voyage is an 11-night cruise from Barcelona to Athens, departing on May 31, 2023, with prices starting at €14,700 per suite.

“Marrying the [Aponte Vago] family’s impeccable taste and innate understanding of luxury, inspired by their personal travels and style, the interiors of Explora I have been designed with their enduring dedication and incredible eye for detail, along with their vision for the future, weaving a thread of their passion throughout each touchpoint,” said Michael Ungerer, CEO of Explora Journeys, in a press statement. “We aspire to elevate the ocean experience and luxury travel to new heights, while being respectful to the ocean, environment, and the destinations and cultures we discover, to ensure we leave a positive legacy for generations to come.”
