Century Cruises Expands With Launch of Century Star on the Danube

Century Cruises is adding to its European river cruise market with the debut of Century Star, the company’s first vessel to sail on the Danube River. Launching Sept. 18, 2026, the continued move into Europe follows a period of rapid fleet growth for Century Cruises, which has already introduced four environmentally forward vessels within the last four years.

Eco-forward Shipbuilding

Century Star continues that trajectory with a design centered on sustainability, hybrid propulsion and recycled materials, in full compliance with EU standards aimed at achieving net-zero carbon performance.

Mr. David Fredericks, President and General Manager of The Americas, said in a media statement: “Through dedication and hard work, we have reached the
heart of Europe—and we are incredibly proud. This is where Eastern elegance
and hospitality meet Western style, on the Danube River.”

The new ship will feature 78 luxury cabins for 174 guests, offering an intimate, boutique-style experience on the Danube. Century Star is also the result of a globally integrated design effort—pairing Chinese innovation with European engineering. Highlights include a main restaurant inspired by the Black Forest; a bar and lounge space influenced by Baroque architecture and the musical traditions of Vienna; a lobby referencing Bulgaria’s Rose Valley; and staterooms that depict the character of Serbian homes.

Century Star’s inaugural Blue Danube Cruise will depart from Budapest and follow an eight-day route through Esztergom, Bratislava, Vienna, Linz and Passau. The itinerary features immersive shore excursions with culinary programming, cultural lectures and onboard wellness sessions including Tai Chi and yoga.

A second itinerary, sailing from Amsterdam to Basel, is also scheduled to launch and will bring Century Cruises’ expanding European offerings to the Rhine River.
