Lufthansa Launches New Long-Haul ‘FOX’ Service
Lufthansa is rolling out a new long-haul onboard service concept called FOX, short for “Future Onboard Experience.” Launching May 6, the redesigned service will span all four cabin classes and focus on personalization, comfort and onboard experiences. According to the airline, the initiative represents one of the largest investments in onboard hospitality in its history.
In Business Class, Lufthansa is introducing expanded dining options, including menus developed by chef Johann Lafer. Passengers will be able to pre-select breakfast options the night before arrival and order additional meals throughout long-haul flights through a new “Sky Selection” service. Lufthansa is also adding a traditional onboard coffee-and-cake service as part of the updated experience.
Premium Economy will receive upgraded meal presentations, expanded beverage offerings and added comfort amenities including slippers. Economy Class passengers will also see enhancements, including amenity kits with sleep masks and earplugs, printed menus and additional hot meal choices on flights longer than 10 hours.
The rollout also includes updated tableware, cutlery and trays across all cabins. Lufthansa said it replaced or introduced approximately 187 million onboard service items as part of the launch. The airline tested the new service concept on more than 110 flights and incorporated feedback from over 9,000 passengers and 500 crew members during development.
