Avianca Focuses on Making Travel More Accessible

Avianca makes traveling more accessible.

Avianca has a new website dedicated to enhancing the travel experience for passengers with disabilities. This initiative, part of the airline’s commitment to inclusive air travel, offers travel advisors a valuable resource to better serve their clients with special needs.

“Accessibility is a priority for Avianca. Our new website is a significant step toward eliminating barriers and making travel easier for passengers with disabilities. By offering detailed and personalized information, we empower them to plan their journeys with greater ease and confidence”, said Michael Swiatek, Chief Accessibility Officer of Abra Group, in a press statement.

Avianca’s Commitment to Accessibility

The newly launched website provides comprehensive, user-friendly information tailored to various types of disabilities. Travel advisors can now access detailed guidance on visual, auditory, physical, intellectual and psychosocial disabilities. This resource offers specific recommendations for each stage of the customer journey, from trip planning to arrival at the destination.

One of the key features of the website is its intuitive design, which separates medical and accessibility topics. This organization allows travel advisors to quickly locate relevant information for their clients, streamlining the booking process and ensuring all necessary accommodations are addressed.

Avianca’s dedication to accessibility extends beyond this digital platform. The airline has implemented over 32 actions to promote greater inclusivity in aviation. A notable improvement includes enhanced signage on 38 aircraft, featuring increased contrast, braille numbering and other elements to facilitate onboard orientation for passengers with visual impairments.

Additionally, Avianca has developed a comprehensive service guide for airport teams. This guide provides recommendations and best practices for assisting passengers based on their specific disabilities and needs. By equipping their staff with this knowledge, Avianca is working to ensure a consistently high level of service for all travelers.

The airline also encourages feedback on the new accessibility page as part of their commitment to continuous improvement and responsiveness to user needs.
