MSC has launched Explora Journeys, a new brand created for the luxury cruise market, with the first of four ships setting sail in 2023.
“Explora Journeys is redefining ocean travel for a new generation of discerning explorers,” says Chris Austin, chief sales officer for Explora Journeys. “The first of four purpose-built ships designed by some of the world’s leading super yacht and luxury hospitality architects is scheduled to set sail in 2023 [with the remaining ships ready in 2024, 2025 and 2026]. Remarkable itineraries will allow guests to go slower and deeper, blending renowned destinations with lesser-travelled ports including unconventional arrival and departure times, and overnights for a journey that celebrates discovery. Whether on board or ashore, guests will reconnect with what matters most—themselves, their loved ones, and the world around them.”
The ship will feature 461 oceanfront suites, and every guest, says Austin, “will enjoy sweeping sea views and a private terrace. Our unrivalled ship design will offer the largest lead-in oceanfront all suite, all balcony/terrace in our category. For those seeking a larger home away from home, we will offer 23 residences, all including a private jacuzzi hot tub on their private terrace.” Suites start at 377 sq. ft.
Spread across 14 decks, amenities include three outdoor pools, with 64 cabanas sprinkled among them, as well as a fourth pool with a retractable glass roof and indoor and outdoor whirlpool baths on the ship’s promenade deck. There’s a wellness space with a spacious indoor/outdoor spa that features treatment rooms and a fitness area as well as access to group workout classes and personal training appointments. The spa and wellness area, says Austin, is “inspired by our love of the sea.”
When it comes to dining, Austin says Explora Journeys’ culinary offerings are “tailored to suit personal preferences. Flexible dining times at nine distinct culinary venues will provide unrivaled variety at sea. Each venue will celebrate global culinary talents, with a focus on wholesome ingredients sustainably sourced from local partners. To make sure guests are spoilt for choice, several indoor and outdoor bars and lounges will also be available. Relaxation begins the moment a guest steps aboard, not having to reach for their wallet for any additional costs which makes…travel even easier.”
