Drew Barrymore will be the Godmother of MSC Cruises’ new U.S. flagship, MSC World America, announced today by the cruise line.
Barrymore will officially christen the ship by cutting the ribbon and breaking a bottle of champagne on the bow alongside Orlando Bloom, who stars with her in MSC Cruises’ Let’s Holiday campaign.

Naming Ceremony and Celebratory Sailing
MSC World America’s Naming Ceremony will be held on April 9 at the new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal at PortMiami.
“MSC World America represents the direction we’re heading in the U.S. market, and having Drew as Godmother is part of that,” said Salas. “We are reinforcing our commitment here with new ships, a fresh marketing campaign, new homeports and the world’s largest cruise terminal in Miami. All of these initiatives are designed to provide U.S. guests with the holiday experience they desire.”
Following the ceremony, MSC World America will embark on a celebratory 3-night voyage to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve—MSC Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas.

Some features on the new MSC World America include:
- Seven districts and 19 dining venues
- 18 bars and lounges, including all-new venues like All Stars Sports Bar and The Loft comedy club
- The Harbour, an all-new outdoor venue for families featuring the Cliffhanger over-water swing ride, a ropes course, a water park, a playground, relaxation areas and complimentary grab-and-go dining
- The outdoor World Promenade features shopping, dining and one of the longest dry slides at sea and the 3-level World Galleria, lined with bars, shops and restaurants
While at Ocean Cay, the MSC Foundation will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate its new Marine Conservation Center. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as a research hub for scientists and students working on the Foundation’s Super Coral Program while also offering guests the opportunity to learn about its mission to restore coral reefs affected by climate change.
