The Huichol culture runs deep in the state of Jalisco, home to the luxury resort Velas Vallarta, and the hotel is allowing your clients to delve into its rich traditions with new cultural experiences. The Spring and Autumn equinoxes and the Summer and Winter Solstices represent important milestones for the Huichol people—whose name can literally mean “healer”—so the Velas team has timed their experiences around these dates.

Family-Owned Velas Vallarta Excels at Family Experiences

This is a wonderful opportunity for your clients to bring their families to a beach vacation with a deeper meaning. The solstice and equinox ceremonies will be led by Huichol experts (the culture is also known as Wixarika), who will dedicate them to the four elements—fire, water, earth and air—thanking them for life on earth. The experience will include chanting and offerings made with flowers, candles and burning copal, an aromatic resin. Your clients will also have fun sampling iconic Mexican cuisine such as tamales, atole, tortillas and more, plus traditional music and dancing. The dates for the ceremonies at Velas Vallarta are as follows: March 20 (Spring Equinox), June 21 (Summer Solstice), September 23 (Autumnal Equinox) and December 22 (Winter Solstice).

Set on Banderas Bay, the all-inclusive, family-friendly Velas Vallarta has 345 suites with 24-hour room service, pools, a spa with treatment cabins on the beach for extra-cool pampering, a fitness center, several restaurants and live entertainment. Most importantly, it has a great kids club with plenty of supervised fun for littles under 13.
