The upcoming vessels, AmaKaia and AmaSofia, are ready to navigate the waters of the Mekong River alongside AmaDara and the Rhine and Danube Rivers in Europe, respectively.
AmaWaterways’ Fleet Expansion
Scheduled to set sail on May 24, 2026, AmaSofia will become the 24th ship in the AmaWaterways fleet to ply the waters of Europe’s rivers. The ship’s maiden voyage, a 14-night journey called Magnificent Europe, will connect Amsterdam and Budapest, offering your clients an in-depth look into the region’s heritage, culture and gastronomy. AmaSofia’s itinerary includes guided bike tours, culinary explorations and visits to historic landmarks across four countries. In its first year, AmaSofia will offer 31 departures with varied itineraries like Melodies of the Danube and Romantic Danube, including the very popular Christmas Markets on the Danube cruise.
On August 3, 2026, AmaKaia will head out on its inaugural 7-night voyage, taking your clients to explore the ancient civilizations of Vietnam and Cambodia. This itinerary emphasizes cultural immersion, featuring local excursions, onboard entertainment reflective of the region and AmaWaterways’ signature luxury amenities. Highlights include “xe-loi” rides, monastery visits and engaging with local history firsthand. AmaKaia will offer two 7-night itineraries, Charms of the Mekong and Riches of the Mekong, which blend iconic attractions with lesser-known experiences. In 2026, AmaKaia is set for 22 sailings, increasing to 38 in 2027. Options for land extensions in cities like Siem Reap, the site of Angkor Wat, will also be available.
