The Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train, Debuts in July 2025

Belmond’s newest luxury train experience, the Britannic Explorer, will debut in July 2025, offering an exclusive slow travel experience through some of Britain’s most iconic landscapes. This launch marks a new era in Belmond’s luxury train offerings, blending classic rail travel with modern British cultural and culinary highlights.

Departing from London, the train will offer 3-night journeys on three distinct routes, allowing travelers to explore Cornwall, the Lake District and Wales.

Each journey features fine dining by acclaimed chef Simon Rogan, whose establishments hold multiple Michelin stars. Rogan’s menu for Britannic Explorer promises a blend of innovative and authentic British cuisine, designed to enhance the onboard experience.

Distinctly British, Exceptionally Refined

Passengers aboard the Britannic Explorer can also enjoy an onboard wellness suite for relaxation therapies, as well as cultural programming that highlights British heritage through guided excursions to historic and natural sites. The train’s itineraries are structured to allow travelers to combine two regions within a single trip: the Cornwall and Lake District journeys operate from Friday to Monday, while the Wales route runs Monday to Thursday.

The Britannic Explorer sets a new standard in luxury design, with interiors crafted by the London-based design studio Albion Nord. Reflecting classic British charm, the decor combines serene elegance with a palette inspired by Britain’s natural landscapes, visible through the train’s expansive windows.

Each of the 18 cabins—including three Grand Suites and 15 Suites—blend sophistication with comfort. Guests can unwind in their private cabins, enjoy treatments in the onboard spa or gather in the Bar and restaurant cars. Dining on the Britannic Explorer is led by Chef Rogan, known for his commitment to Britain’s farm-to-fork movement. Each route will feature menus crafted from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, celebrating the distinct flavors of each region. Guests can enjoy tailored afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus that highlight regional specialties and showcase Britain’s culinary heritage.

The train’s Bar, inspired by Victorian apothecaries, offers a refined space to relax with botanically inspired cocktails, along with a curated selection of artisan gins and craft beers from independent UK distilleries and breweries.

The Britannic Explorer offers an exclusive way to experience England and Wales. Guests can explore world-class galleries, scenic national parks and historic cities, with highlights like a private tour and dinner at Hauser & Wirth Somerset, guided hikes in Wales, wild swimming in the Lake District and a visit to Cornwall’s Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens.
