The Retreat Costa Rica Expands
The Retreat Costa Rica is set to complete a $3 million expansion by late April 2025. The expansion will add 26,500 square feet of new facilities, including a clubhouse, three new dining options and 10 new luxury lofts.
At the center of the expansion is the Santosha Clubhouse, a 16,500-square-foot space that features a large Guanacaste tree, native to Costa Rica, which will stretch across the entire space. The clubhouse will house a lap pool, gym and a yoga shala with 16-foot ceilings, allowing for expansive group classes.
The resort’s new Santosha Lofts are designed with feng shui principles and will feature neutral tones and natural materials, such as teak wood and wicker lighting fixtures. Each loft will include handmade stone accents and a 12-inch selenite crystal, intended to create a calming atmosphere and promote mental clarity.
The expanded dining offerings include Mystique, helmed by two-star Michelin chef Richard Neat, which will offer a French-inspired tasting menu paired with wines, set within a 1,000-square-foot space. Hotel Humano in Mexico
Hotel Humano, a new addition to Puerto Escondido’s La Punta Zicatela, is located steps from Zicatela Beach in Mexico. The hotel, created by Grupo Habita, is situated on a pedestrian-only street in La Punta Zicatela, a well-known surf destination on Mexico’s Pacific Coast. Grupo Habita has also opened two properties in the area: Hotel Escondido and Hotel Terrestre.
Architect Jorge Hernandez de la Garza and Plantea Estudio designed the property using materials like concrete, clay tiles, bricks and tropical wood. The Brown Hotel Opens in Colombia
The Brown Hotel, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection, has officially opened its doors on the Guatape reservoir, two hours from Medellin, Colombia.
The hotel’s concept centers around the four elements—earth, water, fire and air—and features four guestroom towers inspired by the elements. Each guestroom offers private balconies, panoramic windows and interiors crafted with natural materials such as wood and stone.
