Crystal (formerly known as Crystal Cruises) is celebrating the inaugural voyage of the 606-passenger luxury ship Crystal Symphony, which departed today from Athens on its way to Istanbul. Her launch comes right on the heels of sister ship Crystal Serenity’s inaugural voyage in July; both ships underwent a multi-million dollar refurbishment after the brand’s acquisition by Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group in 2022.

After its inaugural voyage, Crystal Symphony will head east to ports like Santorini, Istanbul, Abu Dhabi and Mumbai, among others. For the rest of the year, it will cruise through the western Pacific Ocean with stops in Sydney, Auckland, Papua New Guinea and Bali.

The new Crystal Symphony.

“We are so proud that Crystal Symphony has officially joined Crystal Serenity back in the water, signaling an exciting new chapter for Crystal—two ships refurbished and back in service in under a year is completely unprecedented,” said Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group, in a press statement. “The ship’s exceptional enhancements reflect our unwavering commitment to providing guests with inspiration and enrichment as they sail to the globe’s most coveted destinations.”

Of note: The line not only revitalized two ships in record time, but it also was able to rehire more than 80 percent of the crew members. Crystal is also working on an agreement with two European shipbuilders with a view to adding four new ships to its fleet within the next six years. Of these, two will be classic ships and two expedition vessels.

Slightly smaller than Crystal Serenity, Crystal Symphony boasts the same white glove service in its larger, redone suites, 10 specialty dining options, including 24-hour in-suite service and ample public spaces.

The meticulously redone guestrooms and suites include two new categories, the Jr. Crystal Penthouse Suite (with butler service) and the Single Guest Room with Ocean View for solo travelers. The most popular Sapphire Veranda Suite is available to book in new and classic designs.

The luxury liner now has a full-sized paddle tennis and pickleball court as well as a revamped fitness center. Your clients will be thrilled to know there’s also a new spa concept on board: Aurora, with more signature facials, massage treatments and a full-service salon. Expect state-of-the-art pampering and unique treatments like the Chariot of Light Massage using LED light therapy and the SuperTech Facial that varies with each individual’s need.
