MSC Group’s Cruise Division is expanding its private island portfolio with the introduction of Sandy Cay, a new luxury destination set to open in 2028 in the Bahamas, adjacent to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
The development will be accessible exclusively to guests of MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.
Sandy Cay is designed to offer a quieter, more immersive private island experience, where guests can experience more seclusion while still benefiting from proximity to Ocean Cay’s established infrastructure. Together, the two destinations are expected to create a dual-island experience that expands the range of shore experiences available in the region.
Enhancements Planned for Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve
Alongside the Sandy Cay announcement, MSC Cruises is also advancing a series of upgrades to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. Planned enhancements include new dining venues, expanded beach concepts for both families and adults and additional relaxation areas.
The updates will also introduce new guest experiences focused on marine conservation, allowing travelers to engage more directly with the island’s environmental restoration mission.
The development of Sandy Cay and continued investment in Ocean Cay reflect MSC Group’s broader strategy to integrate cruise itineraries with exclusive, purpose-built destinations. The approach is designed to strengthen the connection between onboard experiences and ashore exploration, offering seamless transitions between ship and island.
