This marks a significant step in Marriott International’s expansion strategy across the region. Positioned as a lifestyle brand, Moxy Tulum introduces a fresh approach to hospitality in CALA, targeting travelers interested in design-driven and culturally immersive experiences.
“Expanding our global footprint with the vibrant Moxy brand in Tulum marks an exciting milestone,” said Brian King, President, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International, in a press statement. “Tulum’s captivating mix of natural beauty, rich culture, and bohemian spirit aligns perfectly with Moxy’s bold, playful vibe—making it an ideal destination for our next chapter.”
Moxy and the Jaguars
The hotel is located opposite the National Jaguar Park and a short distance from the Mayan ruins of Tulum, providing convenient access to downtown. The 122-room property sits near a variety of local attractions, including shopping, spas, galleries, parks and beaches.
Designed to integrate with the surrounding jungle environment, Moxy Tulum makes the most of the surrounding natural views and vegetation. The Welcome Area features unique elements such as a carved wooden jaguar bench and a neon sign that initiates an interactive “Find the Jaguar” game, encouraging guests to discover hidden jaguar motifs throughout the hotel. Architectural details include latticework inspired by traditional toys and a clay envelope that reflects the relaxed, bohemian character of the area.
Guestrooms focus on functionality and flexibility, with modular furniture and efficient layouts. The hotel offers 55 Double–Double Rooms with two queen beds, as well as rooms with twin bunks, great for groups or families. Technology amenities include motion-activated LED lighting, keyless entry, flat-screen televisions, complimentary Wi-Fi and a retro blue telephone as a playful design feature. Facilities include a 24/7 full-circuit gym and access to a temazcal ceremony, a traditional indigenous steam bath known for its cleansing and spiritual benefits, available by reservation.
The Moxy Bar & Restaurant anchors the hotel’s social scene with an open-concept lobby that blends indoor and outdoor spaces. The venue serves craft cocktails, local beers, wines and small plates inspired by regional flavors. The design combines industrial-rustic elements with artistic touches, including pop-culture murals and a double-height installation featuring rustic clay lamps, woven totems and a canopy of interlaced ropes, creating a lively atmosphere.
