A Hotel so Rare

The Meydan Hotel, owned by Dubai Holding Hospitality, has recently reopened under Kerzner International’s Rare Finds. Located minutes from Downtown Dubai and Dubai International Airport, the hotel integrates contemporary design with the pulse of the Meydan Racecourse. Its distinctive curved exterior and green glass façade frame direct views of world-class racing action.

The property features 284 rooms and suites, each with floor-to-ceiling windows and a private balcony. Accommodations start at 667 sq. ft., while duplex suites reach 3,982 sq. ft. Guests have access to the adjacent 9-hole golf course, the Meydan Tennis Academy with 7 courts and padel facilities, and other on-site recreational options. As evening falls, common spaces become a central gathering point for both local visitors and global travelers. Dining venues have been reimagined, including Farriers, with Mediterranean-inspired menus and alfresco seating; the Millennium Lounge, which serves afternoon tea, coffee, and shisha; and the rooftop Equus Pool bar, offering light fare beside an infinity pool with skyline views.

A reopening offer for bookings made before Jan. 31, 2026, for stays through Jan. 2, 2027, includes up to twenty percent off the best available rate, daily buffet breakfast, fifteen percent off dining at Millennium Lounge and Farriers, late check-out at 2 p.m., and an upgrade to a Premium Room.

Boutique Spaces with a Deep Sense of Place

Namron Hospitality is expanding its presence with a growing portfolio of boutique properties designed to connect your clients with meaningful, locally rooted experiences. The group has taken over management of Volga and Alexander in Mexico City and has assumed sales and marketing for Hacienda Viatura Xtojil near Merida.

The company also announced several openings under its brand, including El Cortes, a 15-room hotel set in a restored 1915 presidential residence that opens in March 2026. El Cortes underscores Namron’s strategy of preserving historic architecture while merging contemporary service with cultural design.

Volga, which opened in 2023 near Reforma Avenue, incorporates brutalist lines by architects Javier Sanchez and Aisha Ballesteros, with spaces that balance art, sound and gastronomy. The property includes 50 rooms, a rooftop pool, and the Minos Sound Room for curated music experiences. Alexander, debuting in 2024 within Torre Virreyes, features 26 suites, a spa, fitness center and Mexico’s only dedicated Caviar Bar, developed in collaboration with mixologist Mica Rousseau.

Beyond the city, Hacienda Viatura Xtojil provides a quiet retreat on a former sisal plantation about 25 miles from Merida. The glamping site features 15 canvas tents, a pool, dining areas and wellness programming rooted in local culture, including temazcal sessions and Melipona bee workshops.

Culinary-Forward Stay

Appellation Healdsburg, the flagship of chef Charlie Palmer and hospitality leader Christopher Hunsberger’s culinary-first brand, has joined Small Luxury Hotels of the World, marking a notable step for the company’s expansion. Opened in late 2025, the property spans 8.5 acres on the north side of Healdsburg and is designed around Sonoma County’s food and agricultural identity.

The 108-room hotel merges hospitality and gastronomy, with guest experiences centered on open-fire cooking, local produce and connections to the regional supply chain. Its signature restaurant, Folia Bar & Kitchen, led by Executive Chef David Intonato and Chef de Cuisine Reed Palmer, focuses on ingredient-driven American cuisine paired with wines from nearby vineyards. The rooftop venue, Andys Beeline, features small plates and cocktails built around herbs and fruits grown on-site.

Culinary participation extends beyond dining through Crafted at Appellation, a program offering hands-on sessions with local artisans, growers and makers to connect guests directly to the region’s traditions. Terroir Spa continues this locally inspired approach, integrating area botanicals and treatment concepts inspired by the seasonal landscape. Two pools, indoor-outdoor event spaces and an active wellness program complete the resort’s offerings.

A Motor Inn Gets a Makeover

Opening in early spring 2026, Salt Ranch sits on 2.5 acres along Nashville’s Dickerson Pike, a corridor once part of the historic Buffalo Trail and later the Dixie Highway. The independently owned property includes 48 guestrooms, arranged in an open-air hotel layout among exterior guest houses. The Main House is the property’s central hub, housing the reception area, bar, library bodega, breakfast room, co-working spaces and venues for private events. Built around 1824, the site’s original residence, Maple Manor, has seen several transformations—from a 1950s motor inn complete with an added pool and guest cottages to the Congress Inn motel, which closed in 2020 following years of decline in motor court travel after the interstate expansion.

The updated design references mid-century motor lodges while integrating amenities in line with current travel standards. Guestrooms include king and double-queen options with free parking, Wi-Fi, televisions, robes and slippers. The outdoor pool club, expected to open in spring 2026, will include a 750-sq-ft pool surrounded by a 7,000-sq-ft deck with daybeds, loungers, cabanas and a poolside bar known as the Pumphouse. And, as the only hotel occupying multiple acres on Nashville’s east side, Salt Ranch will be able to accommodate corporate and social gatherings, including retreats, micro-weddings, birthdays and reunions.
