Contiki is broadening its horizons in Southeast Asia by introducing three new Indonesian adventures. Set to start in July of 2025, these trips combine sea, shore and cultural elements across Bali, Komodo Island and Flores.
The expansion follows Contiki’s successful Philippines Island-Hopping trip and responds to a significant uptick in interest in Bali and Asian travel. North American searches for “Bali vacations” have seen a remarkable 234 percent year-over-year increase, while “Bali trips” searches have risen by 53 percent. Despite the considerable distance from the United States, the third quarter has seen a 52 percent surge in Asia travel searches.
Contiki: Bali for the Win
Contiki’s website analytics reflect this trend, with Bali emerging as the most-searched destination among locations where the brand previously had no offerings. Furthermore, the company has observed a nearly 20% increase in 2025 trip bookings to Asia compared to the previous year.
“Bali has rightfully earned its reputation as a hotspot for young travelers, and there’s much more to discover there—so many interesting local traditions that also deserve recognition. We’re pleased to say that our travelers will get to experience it all on these new Indonesia trips,” said Melissa DaSilva, interim CEO of TTC Tour Brands, in a press statement
The new 8-day Bali Island Hopping itinerary offers an immersive cultural experience in Ubud, Bali’s artistic center. Travelers will engage with locals and learn traditional cooking and farming techniques. The trip includes opportunities for thrill-seekers to learn diving, tackle white-water rafting and explore the Gili Islands through snorkeling excursions.
“We know our travelers have been waiting for us to introduce trips to Indonesia, specifically Bali. I would even go on to call them ‘Myth-busting’ trips, because they’ll show you a side of Bali that’s beyond just the buzzing nightlife, with plenty of cultural and adventure activities. Our travelers are going to experience a whole new way of island hopping in Indonesia,” said Taryn Welsh, Director of Operations for Contiki – Asia & Australia, in a press statement. “We’re seeing a trend that young travelers are seeking trips that have more sober, cultural and adventure experiences. We really wanted to ensure that this demand is being catered to on our new Indonesia island hopping trips.”
Adventure enthusiasts can opt for the 6-day Komodo & Flores Sail, which begins with a flight to Labuan Bajo before embarking on a 2-night houseboat journey. This trip features a guided trek on Komodo Island, visits to the distinctive Pink Beach, snorkeling sessions and wildlife encounters with Komodo dragons under the guidance of local park rangers. Participants will also have the chance to swim with manta rays and observe the bat colonies of Kalong Island.
For those looking for a comprehensive experience, the 13-day Indonesia Island Hopping trip combines the highlights of both Bali and Komodo Island, offering an extensive sailing and island-exploration adventure.
These new Indonesian trips are part of Contiki’s broader expansion, which has launched over 50 new itineraries in the past 18 months. Other notable additions include the Borneo Adventure, Ancient Wonders: Rome, Athens & Cairo and Albania Beaches and Peaks.
