Carnival Cruise Line has officially earned KultureCity’s sensory inclusion certification for Celebration Key, its private destination in Grand Bahama. The certification marks Celebration Key as the first cruise destination worldwide to meet KultureCity’s standards for creating sensory-friendly spaces.

“This milestone demonstrates Carnival’s dedication to making vacations accessible and enjoyable for all, including families with sensory processing needs. By training our team members and offering tailored resources both on board and at Celebration Key, we ensure every guest feels supported, understood, and welcome,” said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, in a media statement.

Supporting Guests with Sensory Needs

For the past six years, Carnival has partnered with KultureCity, a global nonprofit that develops sensory-inclusive environments for individuals with invisible disabilities such as autism, PTSD, dementia and sensory processing disorders. The organization provides training and certification for venues to better serve guests with sensory sensitivities.

At Celebration Key, more than 400 team members have received specialized training to support guests with sensory needs. Carnival now offers complimentary sensory bags containing noise-reducing headphones, fidget tools and filtered glasses to minimize exposure to strobe and bright lights.

Each bag includes a VIP lanyard with symbols to discreetly notify staff that a guest may need additional support, as well as a feelings thermometer for non-verbal guests to communicate emotions.
