The new ship will be christened by none other than Captain Sandy Yawn, of Bravo’s Below Deck fame, and her sister, Michelle Dunham, founder of the Jacksonville School for Autism (JSA). The sisters are joining the industry’s first brother Captains, Dimitrios and Tasos Kafetzis, who will be helming the new ship together.

The godmother of a sea-faring vessel is known as “the spiritual embodiment” of the same, the woman who “inspires, protects and positively impacts the lives of everyone” onboard. On Dec. 1, 2023, Captain Sandy and her sister Michelle will be present at the official naming ceremony for Celebrity Ascent to give the ship their blessing and bring good luck and protection to both crew and passengers.
Captain Sandy—known to many from Bravo’s Below Deck series—is more than just a Bravolebrity. She is a best-selling author and motivational speaker, stemming from a life characterized by resilience, excellence and remarkable leadership, as well as actively making a positive impact on society.
Her sister, Michelle Dunham, co-founded the Jacksonville School for Autism (JSA) with her husband, Mark, inspired by her son, Nicholas.
