American Cruise Lines has started construction on the third of its fleet of luxury Coastal Cats: the American Liberty is part of the Project Blue series announced early this year, which is comprised of a series of 12 small ships created to cover almost any domestic cruise itinerary. The American Eagle and American Glory are already scheduled for cruises in 2023 (summer and fall, respectively), while the American Liberty’s inaugural cruise will be in May 2024. Dubbed by the company as its “go anywhere” ships, the Coastal Cats are all built and designed in the U.S. by Chesapeake Shipbuilding.

The American Liberty will welcome 105 guests in its luxurious staterooms and suites, each one with a private balcony, ample lounges and several eateries. The unique hull form—carried across the entire series of Coastal Cats—has space for a wide activity platform on the bow that includes an oversized sundeck on the top deck where your guests can lounge and watch the beautiful scenery slide by, as well as an open-air deck just below for gathering for meals or cocktails.

The hybrid catamaran design means the ship can sail smoothly down rivers, lakes, bays and protected coastlines across the U.S.A. Its shallow draft will allow it to move into small ports and waterways, giving your clients a chance to explore itineraries that follow the cruise line’s concept of Cruising Close to Home. The ships will also have kayaks that can launch right off the unique swim/activity platform and a large tender so your clients can continue the adventure outside.

Itineraries for the Coastal Cats will include roundtrips and one-ways from Boston, MA, Portland, ME, Baltimore, MD, Charleston, SC, Jacksonville/Amelia Island, FL and more.
