Kasbah Tamadot, Sir Richard Branson’s luxury retreat in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains, has officially reopened following a year-long restoration. A member of the exclusive Virgin Limited Edition collection, the hotel was partially closed after an earthquake struck the region.
Known for its legendary Berber hospitality, with 100% of its staff from Morocco, the hotel has reopened with the main building fully restored. The property now boasts a brand-new second restaurant, Asayss, and six new Riads. These unique Riads are built on newly landscaped grounds with views of the Atlas Mountains, expanding the property from 28 to 42 rooms.
Elevated Luxury in North Africa
Sir Richard Branson, Founder of the Virgin Group, expressed his gratitude in a press statement: “It was heartbreaking to witness the devastation caused by the earthquake when I visited just days after. Yet, even in the face of such adversity, the warmth and resilience of the Berber people shone through, despite many having lost family members and homes. We always said we would rebuild Kasbah Tamadot stronger, and I am incredibly grateful to the amazing people who made it happen. I know my mum would be proud and would have loved the new Riads.”
The newly designed, 3-bedroom Riads offer a luxurious stay for up to 10 guests, with each bedroom featuring a private bathroom, lounge area and terrace. A standout feature is the Rooftop Tented Suite, complete with a hot tub on the spacious rooftop terrace—offering a modern twist on the traditional Moroccan Riad. Each Riad also includes a private pool, with all the renowned Berber hospitality and amenities of the main hotel just steps away.
Individually decorated in traditional Moroccan style, the Riads feature soft furnishings crafted by artisans from the local Berber community, supported by The Eve Branson Foundation. The Riads can be booked individually or as a private whole—ideal for families or groups seeking privacy with all the benefits of staying at one of Morocco’s most authentic luxury hotels.
Kasbah Tamadot also includes the iconic Berber Tents. Each tent offers a private terrace, with some featuring hot tubs, perfect for enjoying the stunning surroundings. Guests can also take advantage of the main infinity pool with panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains, indulge in traditional Hammam spa treatments and participate in Moroccan cooking classes or guided hiking and cycling tours of the region.
