American Airlines has officially launched its new nonstop service to Bimini, Bahamas (BIM), from Miami. The carrier is now the only airline offering nonstop flights from the U.S. to Bimini.
“American knows that travelers are looking for unique and varied experiences, and that’s why we’ve added destinations like Bimini to our network,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, in a media statement. “We recently announced new routes for travelers to explore unique architecture in Prague or Budapest or ski down exciting slopes in Sun Valley, and now we’re offering a new island option in the Bahamas.”
From Miami to the Bimini – A 50-Minutue Flight
Flights now operate three times weekly—on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays—from Miami International Airport (MIA) aboard Embraer 175 aircraft. Through Miami, travelers can connect to Bimini from more than 80 U.S. and Canadian gateways.
Bimini will be American’s seventh destination in the Bahamas. The airline plans to operate more than 30 peak daily flights to the islands. In addition to Bimini, American offers service to Governor’s Harbour (GHB) and Freeport (FPO). Increased seasonal frequencies were also added to Marsh Harbour (MHH) and North Eleuthera (ELH) during the holiday period.
For travelers, the new route provides access to both North and South Bimini, known for their beachfront resorts, snorkeling, dolphin excursions and world-class big game fishing.
The addition of Bimini comes as American continues to grow its Miami hub, where it has served as the hometown airline for 35 years. American will operate a schedule of more than 430 peak daily departures from MIA to over 160 destinations across 45 countries and territories. The airline is also investing in a new Flagship Lounge at Miami and expanding its Admirals Club lounges to more than double available space.
