What do two luxurious retreats in Iceland, a historic gem in Armenia, and an island hideaway in Nicaragua have in common? They are the latest properties Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has introduced into its portfolio, marking the first time the company had featured these destinations.

Guests will want to schedule a wakeup call when staying at the Hotel Ranga in Sudurland, Iceland in case the northern lights begin after they’ve gone asleep. The luxury log cabin has been set up for stargazing and offers an observatory should guests want to watch the show. Located 60 miles from Reykjavik, Hotel Ranga features 51 guestrooms with heated wooden floors and river or volcano views, panoramic glass windows in the gourmet restaurant and outdoor geothermal hot tubs with views of the active Hekla volcano, plus a game room with pool tables and puzzles, as well as a casual lounge and bar serving cocktails and hot toddies. Rate start at $305 per night. For more information, visit slh.com/ranga.

Meanwhile, in the capital city of Reykjavik, guests will find the Tower Suites Reykjavik, Iceland’s latest luxury hotel located on the 20th floor of one of Reykjavik’s only high-rise towers, just seconds from the city’s waterfront. All suites in this 8-room boutique property offer panoramic views of the ocean, Mount Esja and Snaefellsjokull glacier, and each are named after a mountain surrounding the capital that you can see from that particular room. While there is no onsite restaurant, the Tower Suites Reykjavik does feature a Skylounge serving organic breakfast by local restaurant Happ and light snacks throughout the day on request. Included in the price of guests’ suite is access to the Laugar Spa. Rates start at $826 per night. For more information, visit slh.com/towersuites.
