San Miguel de Allende will welcome its newest luxury boutique property when Hotel Amparo opens its doors in January 2019.

Located in the heart of this colonial Mexican city, Hotel Amparo was designed to give guests a more intimate, residential-style experience as it features only five guest suites. Built inside a 300-year old historical building that once served as the mayor’s private residence, the interior spaces of Hotel Amparo were stripped to provide a clean backdrop for showcasing both the original Spanish colonial style architecture and the mid-century furnishings sourced from around the world. In the suites, guests can expect to see tall dark wood-plank doors that open to reveal original reddish-brown tiles and beams, bright white walls, original wood paneling, and a bright color scheme that combines yellow, green, blue and red. All of the guest suites are also situated around one of two courtyards.

Hotel Amparo also features a high-end coffee bar that has San Miguel’s first and only La Marzocco espresso machine and uses Mexican grown and roasted beans. In addition, the property also offers a rooftop wine bar with a specially curated wine list offering imported fine wines unavailable anywhere else in Mexico. The list heavily features producers emphasizing natural wine making processes. Guests of Hotel Amparo will also have access to exclusive experiences such as tours of local markets with resident artisans, culinary classes in the hotel’s teaching kitchen and experiential workshops. Since San Miguel is known for its art scene, the hotel will provide gallery concierge services to assist with the purchasing and shipping of any artwork.

Nightly rates start at $325 dbl. This rate includes accommodations, daily breakfast, happy hour on the terrace and an evening dessert hour.
