In honor of Valletta, Malta being crowned the 2018 European Capital of Culture, Andante Travels is taking travelers to explore the historical and archaeological side of the island nation by offering two tours to Malta and Gozo.

On the 7-day tour, which will be lead by a Cambridge-based archaeologist who specializes in Maltese history, guests will explore Malta from the time of its ancient temples through the era of Roman rule and into the medieval period. Highlights of the tour include visiting Valletta; taking a boat to the island of Gozo to visit a prehistoric stone temple; exploring the Ghar Dalam cave, where evidence of the earliest known human activity on the island was found, and more.

Rates for the two tours, which run April 16-22 and Oct. 1-7, 2018, start at $3,170 pp dbl. This price includes the assistance of an expert guide, lecturer and tour manager; local travel via private, air-conditioned coach; all meals with wine at dinner; accommodations; entry to all sites in program (tips included); and field notes.
