Melia Hotels International is on the move on two continents.

The hotel giant recently announced new hotel openings and brand expansion, including the recent opening of the second Paradisus by Melia in Europe and the group’s plans to double its presence in Mexico, from seven to 14 hotels over the next few years.

ZEL to open second location in Sayulita, Mexico

Zel, the hotel brand created by tennis great Rafael Nadal and Melia, will begin its expansion with Zel Sayulita, a new-build hotel in the Mexican Pacific. Slated to open in 2025, the new beachfront property aims to capture the essence of Mediterranean culture, with a nod to the great outdoors.

In addition to 145 rooms, Zel Sayulita will offer a large central courtyard, offering a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, along with a signature restaurant specializing in regional cuisine.

ME by Melia to open two new hotels in Mexico

Also in the pipeline for 2025 are two new ME by Melia hotels, one in San Miguel de Allende and one in Sayulita. These hotels will join the existing ME Cabo and the future ME Guadalajara to increase the presence of the luxury lifestyle hotel brand in Mexico.

The newly built ME Sayulita is set to open in its first phase, by the end of 2023. With a beachfront location, ME Sayulita will boast 125 rooms and villas. True to the brand philosophy, it will offer the most experienced travelers an upscale, contemporary travel experience, with three restaurants, a main pool, gym, spa, beach club and a rooftop bar and pool.

The second new ME by Meliá hotel in San Miguel de Allende is currently under construction and is also expected to open in 2025. It will boast 140 designer rooms and all the signature attributes of ME by Meliá. Guests will soon be able to enjoy unique dining experiences, a luxury spa, innovative gym and take in the panoramic views of the city from the brand’s distinguishing feature: the rooftop bar.

Paradisus by Melia opens Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote in the Canary Islands

The Melia Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote has officially opened, the second Paradisus by Melia in Europe to open this year. Amenities include 282 rooms and villas, a 19,000 sq. ft. swimming pool, tropical gardens designed by Cesar Manrique and seven distinct dining options.

The resort was designed by renowned Spanish architect Fernando Higueras. Located on the island of Lanzarote, a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote is surrounded by the beautiful beaches of Costa Teguise and charming villages rich in culture.

Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote will also offer Destination Inclusive experiences, the newly launched program curated by local experts connecting guests with nature and the beautiful surroundings of each resort location, immersing its guests in the destination, culture and nature.
