For a sophisticated yet fun getaway in the countryside, travelers can head to Surrey, England’s Grantley Hall, a new five-star luxury hotel and spa opening in a 17th-century home on its own island. The property features 47 guestrooms and suites, four restaurants, three bars, a private members club, a spa pool, a gym and performance center, plus several landscaped gardens, including a 1910 Japanese Garden featured on Historic England’s National Heritage List. Grantley Hall will officially open its doors this spring.

Meanwhile, the historic village of Bray will welcome the opening of Monkey Island Estate on Feb. 14, 2019—just in time for Valentine’s Day—following a complete renovation by YTL Hotels. Set on the River Thames, the property will feature 42 guestrooms inspired by the cabins of river boats, a Whisky Snug accessed by a secret staircase, and a floating spa on a custom-built traditional English canal boat.

Urban Getaway
On the opposite side of the spectrum, city-loving travelers can check into Edinburgh’s new Market Street Hotel starting this May. Built on the border of Edinburgh’s historic Old Town, at 6 Market Street, next to the City Art Centre, the hotel will feature 98 modern, urban boutique styled rooms with an exclusive top floor “Champagne city residence,” offering panoramic views across the Waverly Valley. Nestled in a location once vacant for over 50 years, Market Street Hotel pays tribute Edinburgh’s past with historical references throughout the property, plus a Scottish stone facade. Modern elements can also be found throughout the guestrooms’ and bathrooms, where part of the bathroom is an open plan area. Guests can also expect to be welcomed by a bright hotel entrance with high ceilings, as well as an outer courtyard adjacent to the entrance that provides a quiet escape from the city’s hustle and bustle outside.

Part of the Carlton House Collection of properties, Market Street Hotel will also be the first hotel in Scotland to be selected as a member of Design Hotels.
