Club Med recently announced the opening of sales for its newest Caribbean resort, Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda, which is set to open in December 2019.
Located in Miches, a secluded region on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda will be the first operating resort in the area. At 93 acres, the property is Club Med’s biggest project of its type in the Caribbean in the past 40 years. It will also be the first full Exclusive Collection resort in the Americas, acting as the new flagship of the dedicated line in the region.
Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda features four boutique villages within the resort—a new concept to Club Med’s Exclusive Collection. The villages are designed to create a more customizable and intimate guest experience with each village featuring its own unique environment, activities, and accommodations. The villages include the adults-only Archipelago and Emerald Jungle, the Explorer Cove designed specifically for families, and the Caribbean Paradise, which sits at the heart of the resort. Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda will also feature several eco-friendly elements such as a tree re-planting program, educational mini-sessions and a community garden for guests to learn about gardening, recycling, and other sustainable practices, plus a no plastic straw initiative.
The resort is also located nearby several areas where guests can explore the region’s natural beauty, including Laguna Limon, a nature reserve with stunning waterfalls; Samana Bay, featuring protected islands with native flora, wildlife, and a known site for whale watching; and Montana Redonda, a “rounded mountain” that offers 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and is also known for its photo-famous swing.
