Launched in conjunction with this month’s World Oceans Day, Atlantis Paradise Island’s new marine programs will allow guests to get up-close and personal with marine life.

The three new programs include Marine Adventure Summer Camp for guests ages 10-14, the Twilight Snorkel Program, and the Playtime with Sea Lions experience. Through the Marine Adventure Summer Camp, which is a 5-day experience, younger guests will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with the more than 165 marine biologists, veterinarians, aquarists, marine mammal behaviorists and water quality specialists at Atlantis. Sample activities include a visit to Atlantis’ Coral Reef Nursery & Fish Hospital; a group boat trip to go snorkeling amongst live coral reefs; a walk with sharks in the Mayan Temple Shark Lagoon; and a behind-the-scenes educational session with Dolphin Cay’s behaviorists and veterinarians. The 5-day Marine Adventure Summer Camp costs $1,200 per participant, and this year’s sessions will be held July 9-13, July 30-Aug. 3, and Aug. 13-17.

The Twilight Snorkel Program is a nighttime version of the resort’s already popular Snorkel the Ruins program, which is a 45-minute snorkeling experience amid the “sunken ruins and artifacts” of the lost city of Atlantis. Although the daylight version of the program will still be offered, the twilight version—departing daily at 7:45 p.m.—will allow guests to spend their evening with Atlantis aquarists taking an underwater guided tour of the Ruins Lagoon. The Ruins Lagoon houses over 2.7 million gallons of ocean water, plus marine animals ranging from sharks and spotted rays to deep-reef and pelagic fish. This small-group experience costs $136 pp.

For those looking to interact with sea lions, the Playtime with Sea Lions experience sends guests to the resort’s Dolphin Cay to play, swim and engage with the sea lions in their habitats during an in-water component led by marine mammal behaviorists. Following the interaction, guests are invited for a special behind-the-scenes tour and overview of the daily care of the sea lions. The cost of this program starts at $210 pp.
