AMResorts, an Apple Leisure Group (ALG) brand, recently announced the signing of Breathless Cancun Resort & Spa, the third Breathless-branded property in Mexico—where AMResorts already has more than 30 resorts across seven brands.

The Governor of the State of Quintana Roo, Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez, presided over the customary first stone placement ceremony where he was joined by Alex Zozaya, CEO of ALG, as well as several dignitaries from the Mexican government and tourism community.

“Despite the challenges that continue to impact the tourism industry in Mexico, ALG maintains its commitment to Cancun and other destinations in the country. We remain loyal to our goal of attracting investment for new projects that will create jobs and economic benefits in these regions and the Breathless Cancun Resort & Spa is a great example of this,” said Zozaya in press materials. “We are bullish on the future of the Mexican tourism market and will work hand-in-hand with local stakeholders to ensure this new project continues ALG’s tradition of bringing value to the regions where AMResorts brands are present, with concepts that simultaneously surpass travelers’ expectations.”

Located in the Cancun Hotel Zone, more than $160 million will be invested into the development of Breathless Cancun Resort & Spa. The resort will be comprised of 429 guestrooms and suites, and is slated to open in summer 2021. The resort will offer the brand’s Unlimited-Luxury vacation concept, where everything is included, and all without wristbands. The resort is the latest addition to the Breathless Resorts & Spa brand collection, which includes branded properties in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Most recently, ALG announced the signing of Breathless Tulum Resort & Spa, which is set to open in 2021.
