America250 Celebrations Spotlight Miami
Miami and Miami Beach are positioning themselves as a key destination for America250 celebrations through a yearlong lineup of cultural events, patriotic programming and historical exhibitions.
Countywide Celebrations Take Shape
Leading the initiative is Miami-Dade 250, a countywide program featuring educational programming, community partnerships and public events designed to engage residents and visitors throughout the anniversary year.
Miami Beach is also planning a robust lineup of themed activations tied to the semiquincentennial celebration. Events will include the Miami Beach FREEDOM exhibit on Ocean Drive, the Red, White and Boots line-dancing celebration at Lummus Park and dual fireworks displays in both South Beach and North Beach.
Meanwhile, Miami’s Fourth Fest at Bayfront Park is expected to once again draw thousands of attendees with live entertainment and fireworks over Biscayne Bay.
Cultural Institutions Join the America250 Push
Beyond holiday festivities, several of the destination’s major cultural institutions are joining the America250 programming calendar.
One of the marquee events arrives June 20 through July 5, when the National Archives and Records Administration brings its traveling exhibition, “Freedom Plane National Tour: Documents That Forged a Nation,” to the Museum of Miami.
Additional programming will include special events at Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Deering Estate and Miami Marlins games at loanDepot park. The America250 celebrations will also coincide with several major local anniversaries. Among the milestones are the centennial anniversaries of Coral Gables, The Biltmore Hotel and Miami Beach’s iconic Art Deco architecture district.
