New & Updated Trips for 2019
The 12-day Southern Explorer, the tour operator’s most popular safari adventure, has been revamped and enhanced for 2019. This air-inclusive journey combines Cape Town and Kruger National Park with the majesty of Victoria Falls. Clients are treated to new experiences such as private guided sightseeing in Cape Town and Victoria Falls, a dinner cruise on the Zambezi River, and a scenic helicopter flight over the falls. From $10,795 pp, airfare included.
The 12-day South Africa’s Natural Wonders offers an idyllic blend of city, scenery, nature and wildlife. This new itinerary starts with private sightseeing in Cape Town and on the scenic Cape Peninsula, then takes clients to nearby Grootbos Private Nature Reserve for land-based outdoor activities and marine wildlife viewing. The trip’s final destination is the malaria-free Shamwari Private Game Reserve, the country’s largest privately owned game reserve, where clients go on multiple Big Five game drives and learn about the reserve’s conservation programs. They’ll cap off their stay with a lively dinner at Shamwari’s traditional boma. From $9,495 pp.
The enhanced, 11-day Best of Botswana with Victoria Falls itinerary takes clients on a journey through Botswana’s vast, pristine wilderness, and ends with a stay at Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls. They’ll discover the Okavango Delta’s maze of lagoons on a scenic helicopter flight, then explore its secret channels by traditional mokoro. Later, they’ll view the open grasslands and seasonal floodplains of the Moremi Game Reserve on 4×4 safari drives. The wildlife-focused, 9-day Delta, Rivers, and Falls itinerary visits both Botswana and Zambia, African Travel’s newest destination. Clients discover the beauty of the Zambezi River, the magnificent sunsets on the Chobe River, and the intricacies of the Okavango Delta, then end their journey with a magnificent safari at the famous Chief’s Island. Day and night game drives, river cruises, walking safaris and mokoro rides are all included as part of the experience. The new, 10-day Deserts and Dunes in Namibia flying safari visits the wildlife sanctuary of Etosha, the iconic red dunes of Sossusvlei, and the ruggedly beautiful Skeleton Coast. It starts in Etosha Private Reserve, where the savanna stretches as far as the eye can see, and clients will rarely encounter another visitor. Early morning and late afternoon game drives reveal lions, giraffes, ostriches and hyenas, as well as the elusive black and white rhino. Next they’ll explore the shipwreck-strewn Skeleton Coast and see a seal colony, then stay overnight in the stylish new Shipwreck Lodge, built in the shape of a ship. Cape to Cairo is a new itinerary for luxury travelers who want to do it ALL in one trip, from the southern tip of Africa to the top of the continent. This comprehensive 16-day adventure includes the cosmopolitan sights of Cape Town, the grandeur of Victoria Falls and the mighty Zambezi River, endless game viewing opportunities in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, and the legendary pyramids of ancient Egypt. The itinerary is designed so that clients stay at each destination for three or four nights, allowing time to unpack and really soak up the highlights. Along the way they’ll also enjoy unique experiences like blending their own wine in the Cape, eating breakfast with giraffes in Nairobi, going hot air ballooning in the Maasai Mara, and taking a private tour of Cairo with an Egyptologist. African Travel, Inc. is showing its appreciation to travel advisors with a chance to win a safari vacation for two to South Africa. This 8-night journey includes three nights at the luxurious Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Cape Town, three nights at the private Lion Sands Game Reserve near Kruger National Park, and two nights at the award-winning Oyster Box Hotel in Durban.
There are three ways to enter the Live the Dream contest: For every new booking (valued at $6,000 or more pp) made between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018 for travel in 2019, advisors will earn one entry; those who complete African Travel University will earn one entry; and advisors who post to one of African Travel Inc.’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook or Instagram) telling the tour operator where in Africa they’d love to visit with the #LiveTheATIDream hashtag, will earn one entry. All entries will be entered into the drawing, and a winner will be selected on Jan. 5, 2019.
As an additional incentive, advisors can also earn $50 “dream dollars” per booking if they book a 2019 African Travel brochure itinerary or FIT itinerary (valued at $6,000 or more pp) between September 2018 and December 2018. Dream dollars can be used toward an African Travel educational trip in 2019, or for a personal safari vacation. (Dream dollars are earned in addition to commission.)
