Kenya Airways recently announced that it is adjusting the schedule for its New York-Nairobi route from daily to five weekly flights effective Jan. 15, 2019.

The decision to adjust the frequency of flights on this route was made as part of a routine operation review based on seasonality. Kenya Airways CEO Sebastian Mikosz stated that while the decision to adjust frequency is a strategic business decision, the airline remains committed to the New York route and will continue to offer non-stop services to all its guests traveling between the two cities.

“As the only airline that offers a non-stop flight between East Africa and the USA, this route plays a significant role in opening economic and tourism growth for Kenya and East Africa,” Mikosz said in press materials. “The decision to adjust our schedule is to cater for seasonality in line with global practices that allows airlines to reduce or add frequencies based on low or high seasons. Kenya Airways will operate daily flights during the peak period of June 20 to Sept. 15 and Dec. 15 to January.”

During low season, flights will depart from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, arriving in Nairobi at 10:30 a.m. the following day.
