MSC Cruises has announced details of its 7-night itinerary in the Red Sea aboard MSC Splendida for the winter 2022-23 season.

Guests will have a choice of 33 shore excursions, including the addition of Cairo, Egypt, and the choice to embark in Sokhna Port or Safaga in Egypt, or Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

MSC Splendida’s 7-night sailings will call at Sokhna Port, Safaga for Hurghada and Luxor, Egypt; Aqaba for Petra, Jordan; Jeddah for AlUla, Saudi Arabia; and Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.

An extended 13-hour stay in Sokhna Port will allow for trips to the Great Pyramid of Giza, while a selection of shore excursions will be available at each port.

Sokhna Port for Cairo, Egypt will offer five shore excursions, including the Great Pyramid of Giza, and the city of Cairo itself plus famous mosques including the Citadel of Saladin, as well as madrasas, hammams and fountains.

Safaga for Hurghada and Luxor, Egypt will offer 13 shore excursions, including the resort town of Hurghada and the ancient city of Luxor.

Aqaba for Petra, Jordan will offer eight shore excursions, including UNESCO World Heritage Site Petra, hewn out of solid rock more than 2,000 years ago and hidden for centuries in the Jordanian desert until it was rediscovered in 1812.

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia will offer three shore excursions, including the archaeological site of Hegra, which was the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Saudi Arabia and features more than 100 monuments. Excursions will also visit the ancient city of AlUla, with a citadel that dates back to the 10th century, as well as around 900 brick houses, 400 shops and a maze of alleyways and squares.

Yanbu, Saudi Arabia will offer four shore excursions, including diving and snorkeling at the Iona Coral Reef as well as the Baridi Island Getaway on a secluded section of Baridi Island.
