The 57-year-old Caneel Bay Resort on St. John, U.S.V.I., will reopen Nov. 1 as an independent resort, breaking ties with management company Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

“We have an incredible heritage started by the Rockefellers and it’s a legacy that we look forward to developing, while preserving the area’s tranquility,” says Nikolay Hotze, managing director. “We look forward to this new chapter as an independent resort and welcoming our returning and first-time guests to the property. We’re excited for this new phase, which is backed by years of success, increased revenue and unparalleled customer loyalty.”

The 170-acre Caneel Bay will reopen as Caneel Bay Resort and feature new restaurants, such as ZoZo’s Ristorante, Cannella Gelateria and Coffee Shop, and the Sushi Bar. The resort, set on the Virgin Islands National Park and offering seven white-sand beaches, also features M’Ocean Studio, with yoga and fitness classes; massage cabanas; 10 tennis courts; and a kids’ program.

Travel agents earn 10 percent commission. The Bed and Breakfast package, which starts at $401 per night dbl, is available from Nov. 1-Dec. 20 and features breakfast for two per nightly stay. For more information, call (855) CANEELUSVI or visit caneelbay.com.
