MSC World Asia has cleared a major milestone ahead of its December 2026 debut, completing its final sea trials off the west coast of France.
The latest round of testing evaluated the ship’s engines, maneuverability, fuel efficiency, safety systems, speed and stopping distances. The ship’s first sea trials confirm that MSC World Asia is on track for delivery to MSC Cruises on Nov. 25.
The 24th ship in the MSC Cruises fleet and the line’s third LNG-powered World Class ship, MSC World Asia will enter service with more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, along with international entertainment and family-focused facilities.
MSC World Asia’s Mediterranean Itineraries
MSC World Asia will sail 7-night Mediterranean itineraries calling at Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Messina and Valletta. The ship will welcome its first guests on Dec. 4, departing Barcelona on an inaugural sailing.
Among the ship’s headline attractions is The Spiral @ Tree of Life, billed as the longest dry slide at sea. The 266.7-foot slide sends guests down 12 decks. MSC World Asia also incorporates subtle nods to Asian culture, art and landscapes throughout the ship. A 39-foot-long, 29-foot-wide dragon sculpture hangs 32 feet above the World Promenade, creating one of the ship’s most distinctive visual features.
Following its final sea trials, MSC World Asia will return to the shipyard for its finishing touches. MSC Cruises will officially take delivery of the ship on Nov. 25, followed by its naming ceremony on Nov. 28 in Le Havre, France.
