Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Debut New Disney Animation Experience

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is expanding its family-friendly offerings this fall with the debut of The Magic of Disney Animation, a new interactive experience opening Sept. 14 as part of the park’s reimagined Animation Courtyard.

Inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios campus in Burbank, California, the refreshed area recreates the look and feel of the famed studio lot while introducing new attractions, interactive play spaces and character experiences designed for guests of all ages.

Animation Comes to Life

The centerpiece is The Magic of Disney Animation, housed in a building modeled after the Roy E. Disney Animation Building and topped with Mickey Mouse’s iconic Sorcerer Hat. Inside, guests will explore reimagined versions of Disney Animation’s creative departments through interactive exhibits, animated portraits and hands-on activities, including opportunities to learn how to draw Disney characters.

Among the new experiences is “Olaf Draws!”, where guests can follow along with Olaf as Disney animators teach the basics of character sketching.

Families with younger children can also explore “Drawn to Wonderland,” an indoor playground inspired by Disney Legend Mary Blair’s original Alice in Wonderland concept art. The immersive play area features themed environments based on the Mad Tea Party, the Queen of Hearts’ rose garden, the Cheshire Cat’s Tulgey Wood and other scenes from the classic film.

Outside, the reimagined Animation Courtyard offers shaded green spaces, character-themed details and opportunities to spot Disney characters throughout the area, creating a more relaxed environment for families to play, take a break or enjoy a snack between attractions.

The transformation also includes Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, a new stage show inspired by Disney Jr.’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+. The interactive production invites guests to sing, dance and help Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse search for Goofy, Daisy Duck and Pluto before the Clubhouse celebration begins.

Existing entertainment remains part of the courtyard, including The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, which continues to perform in the Studio Theater.

The updates are part of Disney’s ongoing enhancements at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, giving families more opportunities to experience Disney Animation through immersive storytelling, interactive play and live entertainment.
