United Airlines will resume its New York/Newark to Tel Aviv service on March 15, 2025, with plans for a second daily flight starting March 29, 2025. This development marks United as the first U.S. airline to reinstate service to Tel Aviv in 2024, following a comprehensive evaluation of regional operational factors and collaboration with flight attendant and pilot unions.
The flights will utilize Boeing 787-10 aircraft, offering ample capacity for your clients. United’s long-standing commitment to serving Tel Aviv extends beyond direct flights, as they also provide connections through partner airlines, including those in the Lufthansa Group. The carrier plans to assess opportunities for additional flight restorations based on demand trends.
“We are thrilled to see U.S. airline carriers reinstate their flights to Israel from North America,” said Yael Golan, Interim Tourism Commissioner to North America, Israel Ministry of Tourism. “The flights launching this spring by United and Delta Airlines will allow for a significant increase in airlift, enabling American travelers to more easily and economically visit Israel.”
United Joins Other Major Airlines
This service resumption comes approximately 16 months after major U.S. airlines, including United, American and Delta, initially suspended Tel Aviv flights in October 2023, following the Oct. 7 events. The timing aligns with recent geopolitical developments, including a temporary ceasefire and hostage release agreement in the region.
“I welcome United Airlines’ decision to resume non-stop service to Tel Aviv, Israel from Newark Liberty International Airport following service disruptions after the horrific October 7 terrorist attacks by Hamas,” said New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy in a press statement. “Last week, I spoke with airline leadership following my meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog about the negative impact caused by the lack of flights. Israel remains a critical ally and economic partner to our state. This important move eases travel difficulties for businesses, the Jewish community, and many others in New Jersey and will allow families to travel to see loved ones or host them in time for the Passover holiday.”
