Silversea’s New Hotel in Chile: Gateway for Antarctic Explorations

Silversea Cruises is building a hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile, known as the southernmost city on Earth. This new hotel will provide a base for guests exploring the rugged landscapes of Antarctica. The 150-room hotel will be built in partnership with a consortium of Chilean investors with completion scheduled for the end of 2025.

A Hotel at the Ends of the Earth

The hotel will facilitate a seamless journey for travelers to experience Antarctica, flying directly from Santiago, Chile, to Puerto Williams—significantly reducing travel time. Puerto Williams, located in the sub-Antarctic zone of Patagonia, is situated in the southern tip of South America and is an ideal gateway for travelers seeking to explore the world’s least visited continent.

“As we continue to push the boundaries on the ultimate vacation experience for our guests, this new hotel allows us to offer an unmatched Antarctic expedition that further enhances our diverse portfolio of world-class vacations across our brands,” said Jason Liberty, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group, in a press statement. “Partnering with our experienced teams in Chile, we are providing guests with a unique opportunity to explore one of the world’s most breathtaking and remote destinations that advances our promise to deliver a lifetime of vacations.”

Perched above the Beagle Channel and surrounded by pristine forests, the hotel will offer views of the water and snow-capped Patagonian mountains. Amenities will include a restaurant, a bar and lounge, a fitness center and a gift shop featuring handicrafts and artwork by local artisans. The hotel’s innovative architectural design will harmoniously integrate with its natural surroundings, drawing inspiration from local traditional art, architecture and materials.

Silversea is dedicated to building long-term partnerships with the communities in Puerto Williams. The cruise line aims to collaborate with local stakeholders to foster economic growth while respecting the region’s unique cultural heritage and minimizing environmental impact.

“We’re thrilled to enhance the Antarctic travel experience by offering seamless journeys that remove traditional barriers for guests to this region,” said Bert Hernandez, President, Silversea, in a press statement. “This development not only differentiates us from other polar expeditions but also reaffirms our commitment to innovation and excellence as Silversea continues to set the standard in experiential luxury travel.”

The opening of the new hotel will enhance Silversea’s diverse polar offerings in experiential luxury travel. Your clients can explore Antarctica aboard ships such as Silver Endeavour, Silver Wind and Silver Cloud, which offer 6- to 20-day voyages.

For those with limited time, the Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program allows guests to bypass the Drake Passage and fly directly to Antarctica. Each journey is guided by a team of specialists with expertise in the region.
