Dating back more than 30 years, Miraval Resorts & Spas has carved an indelible mark on the ever-growing wellness space of the tourism industry. From its original resort—Miraval Arizona in Tucson—the brand has grown to encompass the Miraval Austin (2019) and, most recently, Miraval Berkshires (2020) located in Lenox, Massachusetts. Later this summer, Park Hyatt Resort Aviara in Northern Santiago County, CA, will be opening a Miraval Life in Balance Spa Aviara.
Now part of the Hyatt family of hotels, Miraval Resorts & Spas’ extensive list of wellness offerings includes private sessions with Miraval specialists, outdoor adventures, fitness activities, spa treatments and therapeutic modalities from around the world. Amidst a peaceful, adults-only environment, programming at each property is designed to allow guests to not only relax, but to learn new wellness-focused practices in a manner designed to be both fun and uplifting.
Customizable Wellness Itineraries
With personalized and customizable itineraries, each of the three all-inclusive, gratuity-free Miraval Resorts properties caters to each individual guest’s specific goals and intentions.
Dina Niekamp, associate v.p. of sales, marketing & brand, points out that “guided by Miraval Resorts’ Experience Planning team, guests are able to identify their intention and create a fully customizable, highly personalized itinerary that supports their reason for visiting before they even step foot on property.”
According to Niekamp, it’s this catering to individual guests that also makes the brand an ideal choice for any traveler including those visiting on their own, with a close friend or family member or a group. She adds, “Miraval Resorts & Spas’ Journey with Intentions program provides a starting point for guests when planning their stay with suggested experiences that reflect the guest’s motivation for visiting.”
These signature multi-day Journeys include the Reconnection Getaway for celebrating a milestone or simply gathering with those who mean the most, the Grief & Loss Journey for finding solace in a supportive environment and the Self-Connection Journey for those with the goal of reconnecting with the self. Each resort will also customize itineraries for groups between 20 and 50 attendees.
There is no minimum stay requirement for Miraval Resorts, however, for the most immersive and intentional experience, Niekamp suggests a 3-night, 4-day stay to allow guests the time to engross themselves in the various experiences and offerings at each resort.
Depending on the individual property and the season, rates range between $650 and $929 per room, per night (single occupancy) and are inclusive of luxury accommodations, all meals, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, access to the property’s extensive list of activities and private sessions, various spa amenities such as saunas and quiet rooms, roundtrip airport shuttle transportation, plus a nightly $175 resort credit to use towards spa treatments and any fee-based activities. Rates are, however, subject to change and are determined based on occupancy, seasonality and availability.
When it comes to authentic local experiences, each Miraval resort offers its own selection of property-specific experiences. For instance, Miraval Berkshires offers seasonal outdoor activities including Mindful Golf, snowshoe hiking and an array of equine experiences such as Donkey Discovery: A Mindful Pace, while Miraval Austin invites guests to discover inspiring landscapes with mindful kayaking and guided hikes through the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, and Miraval Arizona provides a setting to connect with nature through semi-private mountain biking and a Miraval outback hike through the Sonoran Desert.
The brand also features year-around events such as exclusive offerings to celebrate National Yoga Month in September and featured experiences during National Sleep Awareness Month in March.
On a final note Niekamp says, “Each experience and event offered at Miraval Resorts & Spas is designed to help guests to create a life in balance through mindfulness and live their lives to the fullest, whatever that means to them.”
