Patagonia is a popular destination with outdoor adventure enthusiasts. The region’s contrast of mythical landscapes with its colorful lakes, rivers, forests, snow-capped Andean peaks and glaciers on one side and desert on the other provide the ideal setting for once-in-a-lifetime experiences. The region is well known for its world-class ski and winter sports resorts, but the summer months (December through March) are also an ideal time to explore the region with its stellar hiking, biking and kayaking.

Argentina
Perito Moreno, Los Glaciares National Park.

In Los Glaciares National Park, travelers can experience the famous Perito Moreno glacier on kayak for a unique perspective of this natural wonder or go on a glacier expedition led by expert mountain guides. To catch a glimpse of the other glaciers, they can explore a variety of trails available near El Chaltén, one of the area’s most picturesque towns famous for its hiking circuits.

Argentina
El Chalten

In the wine-producing region of Mendoza, your clients can trek through the Andes on horseback in the stunning Uco Valley. Or, recommend a full hike program through the stunning terrain to get a glimpse of glaciers, breathtaking valleys, clearwater lakes and the various stunning peaks of the Andes. They can also go heli-skiing or heli-boarding in the rugged central Andes with expert guides.

For bold, off-the-beaten-path experiences, travelers can head north on a biking tour of Talampaya National Park in La Rioja province, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage site. The park houses a rich diversity of fossils providing great insight into one of the more important Triassic periods. Its impressive rock formations of red sandstone are the result of water erosion in a desert climate.

Argentina
Campos de Piedra Pomez

In northern Catamarca province, Campos de Piedra Pómez dazzles with its desolate and labyrinthine landscape of white volcanic rock. Over 5,000 rock formations are concentrated in an area of about 40 sq. miles. The area’s inhospitable climate and more difficult access make it a great option for die-hard adventurers.

Argentina
Ibera Wetlands

Wildlife enthusiasts can head to the Iberá Wetlands in the northeastern province of Corrientes, one of the most important freshwater reservoirs in South America and the second largest wetland in the world housing about 30 percent of Argentina’s biodiversity with 4,000 species of flora and fauna.
