South African Airways Vacations (SAA Vacations) is offering a 50 percent discount for children under age 18 on its popular Best of South Africa air-inclusive package. The Best of South Africa air-inclusive package allows families to enjoy the highlights of South Africa, from Cape Town’s famed waterfront and world-renowned wine region, to the ultimate African safari at a private game reserve near the Greater Kruger National Park.

“A vacation in Africa represents an enjoyable and amazing learning experience for families, one that teaches them about diverse cultures, wildlife and geography” says Terry von Guilleaume, president of SAA Vacations in press materials. “The Best of South Africa package is a great opportunity for families to bond while combining educational and adventure experiences and enjoying the vacation of a lifetime at significant savings.”

The family vacation starts with round-trip Economy Class air transportation from New York-JFK International Airport or Washington Dulles International Airport on South African Airways. Onboard amenities on transatlantic flights include children activity packets, individual entertainment systems programmed with a large selection of kid’s shows, movies and games, along with the option to reserve children’s meals for those picky eaters. Upon arrival in South Africa, travelers will enjoy 4-nights accommodations with daily breakfast included at the 4-Star Southern Sun Cullinan Hotel, located adjacent to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town. Families will enjoy the included tour to the Cape Peninsula and Cape of Good Hope, where they will view spectacular scenery along the rugged coastline of the southwestern tip of the African continent. Parents will also have the opportunity for a little me time with wine and cheese tastings while visiting quaint wineries and wine farms in the Cape Winelands region. Other optional sightseeing in the Western Cape include a cable car ride to the top of the iconic Table Mountain, recently designated as one of the new Seven Natural Wonders of the World, a boat ride for a historic visit to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years during South Africa’s Apartheid era, or a more adventurous family excursion of cage diving with the Great White Sharks. Guests can also take time to explore the vibrant V&A Waterfront with its many shops, attractions and restaurants, or ride the big red Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus for a city tour of Cape Town and the surrounding areas.

After Cape Town it is time for a 3-night safari experience at one of four beautifully appointed luxury safari lodges in the Thornybush Game Reserve, which lies adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park. Days will be filled with safari game drives exploring the South African bush country while viewing Africa’s Big Five wildlife and feasting on scrumptious meals three times daily, which are all included.

Opportunities to relax, indulge in a spa treatment, or participate in additional nature activities abound during this luxury safari retreat.
