Carnival Corporation & plc has announced significant changes in its executive leadership team for Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Seabourn. Effective Dec. 2, 2024, these appointments aim to strengthen the company’s position in the cruise industry.
Gus Antorcha, currently president of Holland America Line, will take over as president of Princess Cruises. He replaces John Padgett, who will depart in mid-Feb. 2025. Antorcha will oversee Princess Cruises’ global fleet of 16 ships, which annually carries over 1.7 million guests to more than 330 destinations worldwide. His tenure at Holland America Line saw notable achievements, including the largest single booking day in the company’s history and the strongest financial results in 16 years.
More changes at Carnival Corporation
Beth Bodensteiner, senior vice president and chief commercial officer for Holland America Line, has been promoted to cruise line president. With 20 years of experience at Holland America Line, Bodensteiner will manage the company’s fleet of 11 ships, which operate over 500 cruises to more than 450 ports in 110-plus countries. Her previous role involved directing revenue management, deployment, and customer service. Bodensteiner’s accomplishments include implementing an advanced revenue management system and developing strategies to attract high-value guests through collaborations with brands like Top Chef and Wheel of Fortune.
Mark Tamis joins Carnival Corporation as the new president of Seabourn, the company’s ultra-luxury cruise line. Tamis brings over three decades of experience in ultra-luxury cruising and expedition travel. He previously served as global president of Aimbridge Hospitality, overseeing 1,500 hotels. His background includes leadership roles at Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Line, and luxury hotel brands such as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
These leadership changes come as Natalya Leahy, the current president of Seabourn, departs for a position outside the company. Leahy’s career at Carnival Corporation included roles such as CFO of Holland America Line and Seabourn, as well as chief operations officer for the former Holland America Group.
Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation & plc, will directly oversee Antorcha and Bodensteiner in their new roles. These appointments reflect Carnival Corporation’s strategy to leverage experienced leadership to drive growth and innovation across its cruise brands.
